NJHS
The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is the nation’s premier organization to recognize outstanding middle-level students, and it serves to recognize students who have demonstrated excellence in the Society's five pillars.
Becoming a member of The National Junior Honor Society is a privilege; it is not a club or honor roll of students. Membership is both an honor and a commitment. This commitment has shaped the Honor Society's praiseworthy reputation, making it a valued asset among administrators, faculty members, students, parents, and communities.
National Junior Honor Society students are expected to be outstanding ambassadors for Cascade Middle School; each member is required to fulfill meaningful service and act as a leader in their community. These students are also introduced to leadership and service opportunities which will contribute to their long-term academic goals and to the community as a whole.
**Qualifying 6th and 7th grade students will receive an invitation to apply in March of 2025 if they have met the grade level, enrollment, and GPA standards. Additionally, qualifying members will be considered based on their service, leadership, character, and citizenship.
Pillars of Membership
-
- Students who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) meet the scholarship requirement for membership. These students are then eligible for consideration on the basis of service, leadership, character, and citizenship.
-
- This quality is defined through the voluntary contributions made by a student to the school or community, done without compensation and with a positive, courteous and enthusiastic spirit.
-
- Student leaders are those who are resourceful, good problem-solvers, promoters of school activities, idea-contributors, dependable, and persons who exemplify a growth mindset. Leadership experiences can be drawn from school or community activities while working with or for others.
-
- A student of good character upholds principles of morality and ethics, is cooperative, demonstrates high standards of honesty and reliability and shows courtesy, concern, and respect for others.
-
- The student of good citizenship understands the importance of civic involvement. They have high regard for freedom, justice, and respect for democracy.
